Reflecting on our recent success in helping to obtain planning and listed building consent for the conversion of a listed dovecote to a home office, the move to greater home working may throw a lifeline to redundant historic buildings in residential curtilages that as yet have not economically viable to convert. As we get creative to accommodate the new working model within our existing homes, thisĀ need for home office space may provide the incentive to repair and upkeep these historically more marginal structures. It will be interesting to see whether this emerges as a sustained trend as new working practices take hold.
